The Bootleg Beatles have announced they are searching for a new member to take over the Paul McCartney role in the tribute band, after their current bassist has chosen to retire.
The Fab Four imitation group have been on the go since 1980 and currently consists of a line-up of Steve White as McCartney, Stephen Hill as George Harrison, Gordon Elsmore as Ringo Starr, and Paul Canning as John Lennon.
However, the band took to Instagram last week to reveal that White, who has been playing with them for over a decade, would be stepping down from his duties and, as such, they are now in search of a new Macca stand-in.
They said: “We’re very sad to announce that Steve White, our fab Macca for over 10 years, is retiring from full-time touring with BB’s this Autumn.”
Noting that White has been an “outstanding contributor” to the group, the post went on to explain that “the search is on” for a fresh McCartney impersonator, who must possess “the voice, bass guitar and keyboard skills and availability for full time touring” to fit the bill.
However, before the new member is chosen, current McCartney tribute White will have his chance to live out his final performances with the band during their slot at Glastonbury Festival, when they take to the Acoustic Stage on June 29th.
Having been continuing the legacy of the Fab Four for the past 45 years, The Bootleg Beatles have enjoyed an illustrious career bringing the sound of the Liverpudlian legends into the present day, having played Worthy Farm multiple times and also supporting Oasis at their iconic Knebworth shows.
